We met in 2008 through a group of friends who all liked to go cycling together.  Due to our penchant for eating and socializing after the rides (and perhaps one or two small kitchen fires involving bagels), the group became known as "The Bagels".  We became friends through The Bagels, and gradually started spending more time together. In 2010, Katie asked Larry to be her date to a holiday party and was delighted by what a gentleman he was.  The friendship strengthened and, after taking a road trip together in summer 2011, we realized it might be something more than just friendship!  We started dating in August of that year, and the rest is history.

We had planned on going to Switzerland in 2012 to visit Larry's extended family, but decided that we needed a more restful vacation.  Both of us had been to Kauai before and loved it, so we booked a 10-day trip.  It was fun to discover that, on our previous trips to Kauai, we had each stayed at exactly the same place: the Kauai Beach Resort!  On our 3rd night there together, Larry asked Katie if she would like to take a walk.  Despite having already changed into her pajamas, Katie said "sure!".  We walked over to a grassy area near the beach and Larry proposed under the moonlight.  The spot where he proposed is the spot where our ceremony will be held.
